Things we observe but do not see.

Scientists discovery actual counter-rotating, connected eddies that had been deemed theoretically possible. Apparently, scientists have been observing these for 25 years but did not understand what they were looking at.  Makes you think about the sudden discovery of new species, and how much of what we observe we don't see.
