The current Archbishop of Canterbury, like scores of other bishops worldwide, refuse to recognise the validity of such a desperate process. But in an exceptionally brilliant strategy, Bishop Bennison was wrong-footed by an African Primate and neighbouring Bishop. Archbishop Bernard Malango of Central Africa agreed to receive Father Moyer as a priest about six weeks ago, in preparation for a deposition. Then he was able to transfer Moyer as a priest to the Diocese of Pittsburgh -- without the necessary letters dismissory required in ECUSA -- which under Bishop Robert Duncan is one of the few centres of sanity in American Episcopalianism.
