relapsed catholic religion news media culture links to Daimnation! who links to this newspaper article about anti-Semitism among the Saskatchewan Indian community. It seems that "respected Saskatchewan Indian" leader David Ahenakew has expressed empathy for Hitler's Final Solution as follows:

"That's how Hitler came in. He was going to make damn sure that the Jews didn't take over Germany or Europe. That's why he fried six million of those guys, you know. Jews would have owned the goddamned world. And look what they're doing. They're killing people in Arab countries."

Well, I guess if there is one group of people where anti-semitism would matter the least, it would have to be the Saskatchewan Indians. On the other hand, in light of the continuing project to make anti-semitism the original sin of European Catholicism you have to wonder how that purported Western cultural attitude infected a Native Canadian activist. [The answer, in my humble opinion, is that kooks are kooks everywhere, and tendentious cultural-genetic explanations are simply another form of the "blood libel."]
