I wonder whether Tim Cavanaugh had this in mind when he referred to this man as "the Roman Dictator.".

Tim Cavanaugh was the Reason writer who told me not to "get your scapular in a bunch" when I objected to his calling John Paul II "the Roman dictator." Well, under the principle that the idea that "good men do are oft interred with their bones" should be fought whenever possible, let me direct anyone interested to this article where Rabbis describe JPII as the best Pope "in history, in terms of the Jews."

I wonder if Cavanaugh would agree that this kind of hopeful reconciliation does constitute a "home runs for human dignity, knowledge and freedom."
