"...accusations about Pope Pius XII's behavior vis-à-vis the Jews and Nazi persecution seems to have little basis in fact."
Bill Cork links to a follow-up to a disturbing story that apparently advanced the claim that Pius XII was anti-semitic. The latest round of accusation against Pope Pius XII centered on the claim that he issued orders "aimed [at keeping] baptized Jewish children from being returned to their families."
Zenit reports that it has tracked down the supposed documents and that they are not Vatican documents, that they were written by the future Pope John XIII, and that they do not evidence the policy ascribed to them.
Probably the first clue should have been that that original story was a based on a document which was written with Microsoft Word software.
That's a joke.
