The Southern California "One Free Crime If You Are A Celebrity" rule remains intact.

Michael Jackson acquitted on all counts, including the "serving intoxicating beverage to minors" lesser counts, on which the only evidence was "guilty."

I've been watching these celebrity cases for 20 years now - from the Landis case through O.J. and Robert Blake - and the one rule you should never forget is, never bet against a celebrity when jail time is on the line.

Maybe Jackson was innocent - or maybe the kid's mother was a nut - but maybe democracy, which requires the equal application of the law to the rich and poor, needs to take into account the siren call of celebrity.

Update: California Conservative is not amused by the decision.

Caltech Girl is just happy that the Jackson verdict answers one burning question that we've been curious about for the last decade.
