Having come off a four week employment trial, I am now in a two week - heading to three - defamation case. The issues in the case involve, inter alia, high school age Catholic girls, access to the internet and the fascinating issue of who is or is not the "biggest slut".
*Sigh*
The facts of the case could have been scripted from the Lindsay Lohan/Disney movie, "Mean Girls". It's truly a very scary case for someone with three daughters, one of whom - "Boff" - is on the verge of her teenage years. After the trial concludes, I hope to have some observations on the eternal wisdom of the Church's teachings on calumny and detraction, the failure of education to instill virtue in students and the wisdom of my father who told me in high school that if "any trouble follows you home, I am going to assume you did something to cause it." That observation was coupled with some kind of dire insinuation about the unpleasantness which would follow thereafter.
I actually had the opportunity to share that bit of wisdom with my 12 year old on Sunday to discourage a bit of "pranking" activity she and a friend were planning during a sleep-over.
Ancient wisdom is the best wisdom.
Enough of that for now. Mayor Jay at Pro Ecclesia is spreading a meme, the rules of which are:
1.Go into your archives.
2. Find your 23rd post.
3. Post the fifth sentence (or closest to it).
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions.
5. Tag five other people to do the same thing.
OK, here goes.... the post is from May 21, 2002 and is two sentences long. The second sentence reads:
In the interest of publicizing the site, and making sure that the scum who murdered Myrna Opsahl are remembered, I am going to add a permanent link to the site to the left over there.
The post involved the trial of those thieving weedbags in the SLA, who, after murdering Myrna Opsahl, a mother and a housewife, dismissed their crime with an observation about Myrna Opsahl being "a bourgeois pig anyway."
The Opsahl family fought for justice for years.
The trial never happened because the SLA scum pled guilty and got incredibly lenient sentences of six to eight years.
Apparently, the SLA had suffered enough by being forced to evade justice for nearly 30 years.
Myrna Opsahl could not be reached for comment.
Well, a meme isn't a meme if there isn't a tag. So, for a trip down memory lane, I tag....Cranky Greg, Noli Irritare, Ith (who never does these things), The Paragraph Farmer and Lane Core (whose 23rd entry was probably carved into clay tablets, that's how long he's been blogging.)
