"'Book of Daniel': A Mean-Spirited, Unholy Mess."

Two minutes into the show and I'm agreeing with Tom Shales.

Huh? "Temptation isn't a bad thing because otherwise there wouldn't be redemption?" Apparently, the writer hasn't really read Romans 6:1 - 2.

"Don't ask for forgiveness from Jesus until we can learn to forgive ourselves?" Yea, that's a real problem for modern Americans.

Oooh, and after the first commerical break, a parishioner is telling Reverend Webster that she's going to "pull the plug" on her father.

This show is going to tank like the ECUSA.

Update:

I punched out when Reverend Webster approached an Italian-American Catholic priest to use his connections with the mob to kidnap Quinn's brother-in-law, who had gone on the lam with the church's builing fund, and return him uninjured, with the money, to St. Barnabas.

Because, don't you know that the Catholic church has such connection.

Sheesh.

So, although technically there was no appearance by a murderous albino monk, the writers were still able to work in a traditional Anti-Catholic slur. I'm sure that bit of absurdity tested well in Hollywood.

The sensitive progressives at the "Blog of Daniel" scored this classic bit of knee-jerk bigotry as the near equivalent as the cliched depiction of Episcopalians as inveterate golfers.

Got to love those progressives for taking a stand whenever it is politically correct to do so.
