Great Moments in Atheism
Remember - oh so long ago - when Minnesota state employee P.Z. Myers was using his taxpayer funded sinecure to encourage bigotry and intolerance?
One of the things that Myers found unacceptable!!!! was that his livelihood was threatened and, he claimed, one or two "God-botherers" had "threatened his life" by offering to punch him in the nose if he ever wanted to stop by and visit with them.
Silly and inane stuff to be sure.
Well, pot/kettle, mote/beam, ox/gore, today is today and Myers has organized his cult of "free-thinkers" in order to threaten the livelihood of a pharmacist with a conscience, with the predictable result that the pharmacist is receiving threats.
Thank heaven for enlightened bigots.

That little freak still draws a paycheck from the university in order to fund his freakishness?
Myers has something way better than the courage of his convictions and the truth on his side...
....he has tenure.
No one with tenure has EVER been dismissed from a university? Is the task so difficult?
(Pardon my ignorance with this tenure business)
Dismissing someone with tenure would require a full fledged hearing to determine if that person has violated some explicit rule of his employer in a serious way. At the very least, it is an expensive proposition that could cost the University hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Also, Myers would claim First Amendment protection and that his speech was really a parody that was misunderstood.
As far as I know Ward Churchill - the Colorado professor who made the comment that everyone killed in the Twin Towers on 9/11 were "little Eichmans" - still has his job.
Tenure is a great thing to have.
This is as appropriate a place to post this as any. Speaking of godless ones:
