More geopolitical news about the instability of the world system.

A totalitarian dictatorship with 30 million excess men and a propensity for treating its population like herd animals is about to deploy long range, incredibly accurate missiles with the ability to kill American aircraft carriers.

Over 20 years ago, John Keegan predicted that with the advent of missiles, the future would belong to submarines with the ability to interdict the seaways.

What should be an important point with this is that the US is the only nation which has the (laughably) financial ability to field aircraft carriers in serious number---perhaps the only nation remaining as I am not up on the latest edition of "Janes War Ships."

1)China spends a boatload of money developing a missle to exclusively counter US carriers.

2)US has the AEGIS missle defence sysytem

3)Why spend money to develop a missile if it cannot defeat the AEGIS capabilities of it's targets?

I think there is more to the story than meets the eye.
