The nice thing about having a Democrat in the White House is that there is no bad news...

..such as the fact that 2012's Christmas sales were the weakest since 2008:

Bargain-hungry Americans will need to go on a post-Christmas spending binge to salvage this holiday shopping season.

Despite the huge discounts and other incentives that stores offered leading up to Christmas, U.S. holiday sales so far this year have been the weakest since 2008, when the nation was in a deep recession.
Note the headline: "Holiday Shopping: U.S. Consumers Spent Cautiously This Year, Disappointing Retailers."

Sure, "cautious" they were in a deep recession.

Obscuration. Conservatives have failed with this argument for four years. The people have been given the news that they will be spending thousands more the first of the year. It's just not going to retailers.

The primary reason this relatively unpopular President was reelected was because he is not blamed for this long and deep recession. The people verify that reality through the same polling agencies that the conservatives tried to discredit in this last election......imagine how long the people will blame the conservatives of today for the consequences of falling off the fiscal cliff? All the economic disappointment to follow will be hung around Republican necks.

Which responds to my post how?

Obviously polling confirms that Republicans are blamed. Why should that be a surprise after I've documented how the press never prints bad news that might be used to blame Obama?

If Romney had won, you can bet we would've seen stories about homelessness and the elderly eating pet food and working at McDonalds.

But we've been living in a fool's paradise for four years where there is no bad news.
