A Voyage to Arcturus has a permalink Alan Boyle's Cosmic Log which reports on possible photographic evidence of surface water on Mars. Now, I have made some bad decisions in my career choices, and thus do not even pretend to be a planetologist, but the phot does look like a damp area on Mars. Put water and a heat source together and there might be the necessary conditions for life on Mars.
