This is fascinating and disturbing.

What this FiveThirtyEight article demonstrates is that America is polarizing more, with, essentially, one party counties expanding over time. One party districts are commonplace.  Even when Democrats had the lock on Southern states, there were counties in those states that were one party Republican counties. There seems to be something in human nature that wants to be part of the herd.

What these maps show is the growth of red. Red Republican districts are expanding over time and deepening.

Does that suggest a long term reaction to something? Perhaps the sense - or reality - in most of America that they had better organize against the opposition found in the big cities?

Its quite amusing that someone who operates a lop-sided, hyper-partisan blog like yours finds this disturbing. You must find it disturbing because there are way too many idiots who don't agree with you?
